We Needed Batman!
Thursday 30th September 2021
We needed a bat management plan.
Bizarre, because we live 20 metres from 27,000 acres of forest where, one imagines, bats would feel right at home. But, in order to knock down our house to build a new one, we need to take care of a small number of bats that regard our home as theirs.
James the bat man peered in attics, looked in outbuildings, and sat in the garden as dusk fell, accompanied by his wife (bat woman?) and a range of high-tech, bat-detection equipment.
The output of his efforts was an Ecology Report. That went along to the council, with a plethora of other documentation, and by return came planning permission for our new house.
James was only one component of the process. There's the house design (Helen), plans and drawings (Jon), archaeology (Kate), and so it goes on.
Keeping our systems secure and available is only one component of running a business but, like James and our new house, it's a necessary part. We don't have to give any thoughts to how we should deal with bats: we can rely upon James with his experience, knowledge and expertise to ensure everything is taken care of in that respect.
Similarly, Manchester Printers clients don't have to worry about how their print data is kept, we are registered with the ICO. They can rely upon our experience, knowledge and expertise to ensure everything is taken care of in that respect.
